Districts

These are the 39 chains that make up Ethereum City, the capital of Crypto Nation: Ethereum mainnet and the L2s and sidechains that run on top of it, grouped by technology. Open one to read who built it and what technology it uses.

L1 Downtown

Where every L2 posts its data and settles.

Superchain · OP Stack

Chains built with Optimism’s OP Stack.

BaseOptimistic rollupCoinbase’s Superchain L2 and the city with the most daily transactions — consumer apps, social and payments cluster here.OP MainnetOptimistic rollupHome of the Superchain. The original L2 by Optimism, creator of the OP Stack; the blueprints for the other OP Stack towns came from here.UnichainOptimistic rollupA DeFi-focused L2 built by Uniswap, with 1-second blocks and verifiable block building.InkOptimistic rollupAn L2 run by the Kraken exchange, aiming to bring exchange liquidity on-chain.SoneiumOptimistic rollupSony’s entertainment and fandom L2.World ChainOptimistic rollupA “humans first” L2 built on World ID (iris verification). Proof of Human acts as the city pass.ModeOptimistic rollupA Superchain L2 oriented toward AI agents and DeFi.ZoraOptimistic rollupA media L2 centered on NFTs and creator coins.LiskOptimistic rollupAn L2 aimed at emerging markets (Africa, Southeast Asia) and real-world assets.CeloOptimium (external DA)A mobile payments and stablecoin town that migrated from its own L1 to an Ethereum L2 in 2025. 1-second blocks.FraxtalOptimium (external DA)The L2 of the Frax stablecoin ecosystem. Fees are paid in the FRAX token.MegaETHReal-time L2 (MegaEVM)Mainnet since February 2026. Chasing “real-time” performance with 10 ms mini-blocks; thousands of transactions per second are the goal, so its roads are full of trucks.MantleZK rollup (OP Succinct)Bybit-affiliated L2. It adopted zero-knowledge proofs (OP Succinct) in 2025 and, since April 2026, posts all its data to Ethereum blobs — a ZK rollup.RoninOptimium (external DA)The game chain of Axie Infinity. In May 2026 it moved from an independent sidechain to an OP Stack Ethereum L2 (an optimium). Gas is paid in RON.

Arbitrum family

Chains built with Arbitrum technology.

ZK rollups

Chains that settle with zero-knowledge proofs, plus a based rollup.

Satellite islands (sidechains · independent EVM chains)

Independent chains with their own validators — sidechains and independent EVM chains — linked to Ethereum by bridges.

Polygon PoSSidechainA sidechain with its own validator set — an island linked to Ethereum only by its PoS bridge. One of the oldest satellite towns.Gnosis ChainSidechainA sidechain that pays gas in xDAI. A town of payments and governance experiments.BNB ChainIndependent L1 (EVM)An independent L1 grown by the Binance exchange. It runs the EVM, so the same apps work as-is, but its own validators secure it, so it connects to Ethereum only through bridges. The busiest satellite town.AvalancheIndependent L1 (EVM C-Chain)An independent L1 whose C-Chain runs Ethereum apps on the EVM. The official Avalanche Bridge moves assets to and from Ethereum.SonicIndependent L1 (EVM)An EVM L1 launched in December 2024 as the successor of Fantom. Its own bridge, the Sonic Gateway, connects it to Ethereum.CronosIndependent L1 (EVM)The EVM L1 of the Crypto.com ecosystem, built on Cosmos technology and connected to Ethereum through bridges.BerachainIndependent L1 (EVM)Mainnet since February 2025. An EVM L1 that hands out validator power in proportion to liquidity provided (“Proof of Liquidity”). Third-party bridges connect it to Ethereum.MonadIndependent L1 (EVM)Mainnet since November 2025. An EVM-compatible L1 that executes transactions in parallel, aiming at thousands per second. Its official bridge (built on Wormhole) connects it to Ethereum.SeiIndependent L1 (EVM)An L1 focused on trading speed. It has supported the EVM since 2024 (Sei v2), and third-party bridges connect it to Ethereum.HyperEVMIndependent L1 (EVM)The EVM chain run by the Hyperliquid perpetuals exchange. It runs alongside the exchange’s order book, and bridges connect it to Ethereum and Arbitrum. Gas is paid in HYPE.PlasmaIndependent L1 (EVM)Mainnet since September 2025. An EVM L1 built for stablecoin (USDT) payments — basic USDT transfers are free. Bridges connect it to Ethereum.KaiaIndependent L1 (EVM)The EVM L1 formed in August 2024 by merging Kakao’s Klaytn and LINE’s Finschia — a Korean and Japanese ecosystem centred on messenger mini-apps. Third-party bridges connect it to Ethereum.SKALEEthereum sidechain networkA network of “elastic sidechains” tied to Ethereum. Gas is free (sFUEL) and the IMA bridge links it to Ethereum. The city watches its hub chain, Europa. The SKL token is an ERC-20 on Ethereum.
