SKALE
A network of “elastic sidechains” tied to Ethereum. Gas is free (sFUEL) and the IMA bridge links it to Ethereum. The city watches its hub chain, Europa. The SKL token is an ERC-20 on Ethereum.
SKALE is a network of “elastic sidechains” launched in 2020. Each app can run its own chain, and users pay no fees (a free gas token called sFUEL is used). Validators take part by staking SKL, an ERC-20 token on Ethereum.
Of the many SKALE chains, this city watches the DeFi hub Europa. The IMA bridge links it to Ethereum, and in 2025 SKALE Labs also announced a separate new L1 called FAIR (the SKALE network keeps running).
Rather than crowding every application onto a single shared chain, SKALE operates a modular network of elastic, app-specific EVM chains with zero gas fees for end users.
Projects lease chain capacity using SKL tokens while users transact seamlessly with free sFUEL—ideal for high-frequency Web3 games and consumer apps, with the Europa DeFi Hub represented in Ethereum City.
