Privacy policy
Effective 2026-10-19
Crypto Nation (formerly Ethereum City) (“the site”, https://crypto-nation.net) is an unofficial fan site run by an individual in the Republic of Korea. This policy explains what personal information the site handles, why, for how long, and how you can have it deleted, as required by Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act.
1. In short
- There is no sign-up. The site does not ask for your real name, e-mail address, phone number or payment details.
- If you choose to become a citizen, your nickname, your district and what you write are stored and shown to other visitors.
- Wallet addresses are not stored on the server. Even if you verify a wallet, only a fingerprint (hash) of the address is kept.
- If you leave, your citizen record and what you wrote are deleted from the server.
- The site has no ads, no analytics tools and no cookies.
2. What is processed, why, and for how long
| When | Items | Purpose | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Becoming a citizen (optional) | Nickname, chosen district (and, if you move, when and where you lived before), time of registration, a random citizen number made by the site. The secret token of your citizen card is stored only as a hash. | Showing citizens, counting population, providing houses, guestbooks and the forecast game | Until you leave |
| Posts (optional) | District guestbook posts, your house intro, house guestbook posts | Public display | Until you leave or delete them. A district guestbook keeps the latest 60 posts and a house guestbook the latest 30; older ones drop off |
| Forecast game (optional) | Your forecasts, record and points | Rankings and ranks | Until you leave |
| Wallet verification (optional) | Your wallet address is received once to check your signature and held for at most 10 minutes; after that only a hash of the address and the chosen home chain are stored | The “wallet verified” mark and house location | Until you unlink or leave |
| Decoration and billboard words (optional) | Your house decoration (roof and wall colours, ornament), your brick balance, the words you asked to put on the billboards and the review result | Showing your house; reviewing and showing billboard words | Until you leave. Review records are kept for 90 days; when you leave, your name is removed from them |
| Crypto Nation citizen (optional) | The home city you chose on the nation map, your house level, your car (level and colour) and garage level, the cities and weather you forecast in each round, your forecast record (hits, points, bricks earned), how many times your house has been visited (only the count — who visited is not stored) | Showing your house, car and garage on the nation map (name, city, levels, decoration, car colour, forecast record, the date you became a citizen and the visit count are visible to everyone, including in the house window other visitors open; your name can also appear above a figure walking the streets of your city), settling forecasts and the leaderboard, counting bricks | Until you leave. After a round your picks are kept only as results; round summaries are kept for 40 days |
| Contact (optional) | Your message and any reply contact you write | Answering you | One year, then deleted automatically |
| Crypto Nation boards — free board and Q&A board (optional) | Author name (for a citizen, the citizen name and number), title, text, when it was written and edited, the password of a guest post or comment (stored only as a hash); on the Q&A board, whether the post is secret and the operator’s answer; on the free board, comments (name, text, time, and for a citizen the citizen number) and any operator note | Talking on the free board; answering questions and suggestions on the Q&A board and showing them (a secret post is visible only to its author and the operator) | Deleted automatically one year after the last edit, answer or comment (comments go with their post). Authors can delete their posts and comments at any time, and when a citizen leaves, their posts and comments are deleted too |
| Automatic | IP address | Preventing flooding, duplicate reports and duplicate visit counts | At most 7 days in temporary form, then deleted automatically. Not stored together with your nickname or other citizen information |
| Automatic | Visitor count: a random number made anew each time a screen is opened. It is not stored in your browser and is not linked to your nickname or IP address | Counting how many people are here now and how many visits there have been | The number is dropped about five minutes after the screen is closed. Only the totals are stored |
| Automatic | Visit statistics: the country and region of the connection (names estimated from the network, such as a country and a province or city — nothing finer), the time of the visit, how long the screen stayed open (to the minute), whether the visitor was signed in as a citizen, the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer) and the names of the operating system and browser (taken from what the browser reports), where the visitor came from (only the domain of the referring site, such as a search engine), the browser language and the screen language, the first page opened, and whether this was the first visit from that device. Not linked to IP addresses, nicknames or screen numbers | Letting the operator see how the site is visited | Daily totals are kept for 35 days and the list of recent visits holds the latest 300; anything older is deleted |
| Automatic (citizens) | When you visit signed in as a citizen: the time of your last visit, by citizen number | Managing citizens (for example, seeing who has not visited for a long time) | Until you leave. Only the latest 3,000 citizens are kept; older records are deleted |
| Automatic | Error reports: error message, site version, browser type, screen path | Fixing bugs | Only the latest 50 reports |
Your browser’s local storage holds your language and display settings, your citizen card (citizen number and secret token), any wallet address you entered in “Find my home”, the date of your last counted visit (so that a visit is counted once a day) and when you last checked your house guestbook (to tell you about new posts). These stay on your device and can be cleared in your browser settings. So that you can edit or delete a guest post or comment again in the same tab, its password is kept in session storage, which is cleared when the tab is closed.
A wallet address entered in “Find my home” is not sent to the site’s server. Your browser asks public block explorers and RPC servers for balances and transactions directly. The site’s server receives only a hash (fingerprint) of the address, to check whether a house was verified with that wallet, and does not store it.
3. Legal basis
Information is processed only as far as needed to provide the features you ask for yourself — registering as a citizen, posting, forecasting, contacting the operator (Personal Information Protection Act, Article 15(1)4). Temporary processing of IP addresses and error reports rests on the legitimate interest of preventing abuse and keeping the site running (Article 15(1)6).
4. Provision to third parties
Your information is not provided to third parties. Nicknames, guestbook posts, house intros, house decorations, approved billboard words, free-board posts and comments and non-secret Q&A posts are posted by you for public display, so anyone visiting the site can see them. Requests required by law are the exception.
5. Outsourcing and overseas transfer
The site’s server and storage run on Cloudflare’s services.
- Recipient: Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) — cloudflare.com/privacypolicy, privacyquestions@cloudflare.com
- Items transferred: all items in section 2
- Country, time and method: the United States and other countries where Cloudflare operates data centres; transmitted over the network and stored when you use the site
- Purpose and retention: operating the server and storage for the site; the same periods as in section 2
- How to refuse, and the effect: if you do not register, post or send an inquiry, that information is not transferred, and you can still look around the city freely. Processing of the IP address needed for the connection itself cannot be avoided
To draw the city, your browser fetches public data directly from each chain’s public RPC servers, CoinGecko, DefiLlama, Blockscout and Google Fonts. Your IP address is visible to those servers when it does. The site does not send them any other information about you.
News headlines on the Crypto Nation map and library are fetched by the site’s server from the news outlets’ public feeds (only titles, links and times are shown). Your browser contacts an outlet only when you open one of its articles, and that outlet’s own privacy policy then applies.
6. Deletion
Information is deleted without delay when its retention period ends or when you leave. The records are removed from the server’s storage and cannot be recovered.
7. Cookies and advertising
The site does not use cookies, analytics or personalised-advertising tools. If ads are ever added, this policy will be changed first.
8. Children under 14
The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If you are under 14, please do not register as a citizen, post or send an inquiry. If a guardian asks for deletion, it is done without delay.
9. Your rights
- Access — you can see your citizen card and posts on the site at any time (the citizen panel and your house).
- Correction — you can edit your house intro yourself. To change your nickname, ask through the contact page.
- Deletion and stopping processing — press “Leave” in the citizen panel and your citizen record, posts and forecast record are deleted from the server. If you have lost your citizen card and cannot leave yourself, ask through the contact page and say your nickname, district and what you wrote so that you can be identified.
- Requests are answered within 10 days.
10. Security measures
- The secret token of a citizen card and wallet addresses are stored only as hashes, never in plain form.
- All communication with the server is encrypted (HTTPS).
- Administrative functions are protected by a key only the operator knows.
- Rate limits prevent abuse by automated programs.
