Taiko Alethia
A “based rollup” whose block ordering is done directly by Ethereum validators.
Taiko Alethia is a based rollup whose mainnet opened in May 2024. It has no separate sequencer: Ethereum’s L1 block proposers also order Taiko’s blocks.
The benefit is that ordering is as decentralised as Ethereum itself. Its token is TAIKO.
Unlike conventional L2s that rely on a centralized sequencer run by a single team, Taiko Alethia is a ‘based rollup’ where Ethereum L1’s own block proposers sequence Taiko blocks directly.
This design inherits Ethereum’s liveness and censorship resistance from day one and pairs based sequencing with a multi-proof verification system combining zero-knowledge proofs and SGX attestations.
