From APENFT to AINFT: A TRON NFT Token Turns Toward AI
A TRON-family NFT project that pivoted to AI services
AINFT (ticker NFT) is the 2025 new name of APENFT, a project started in 2021 by TRON founder Justin Sun. It began with fine art as NFTs and now presents itself as an AI-and-NFT platform.
1. An NFT project from the TRON camp
AINFT’s predecessor, APENFT, launched in 2021. Founded by Justin Sun, the creator of the TRON blockchain, it set out to register works by famous artists as NFTs (one-of-a-kind digital records on a blockchain) and to grow the NFT market. The APENFT Foundation was also involved in buying real artworks.
On the Crypto Nation map, AINFT stands in TRON City, because it was first issued on TRON, alongside TRON-family tokens such as BitTorrent (BTT) and JUST (JST). In autumn 2025 the project renamed itself AINFT and said it would add artificial intelligence (AI) services to NFT trading. The token itself carries on under the new name, and its ticker is still NFT, easy to confuse with the general term.
2. A TRON token with a huge supply
The NFT token follows TRON’s TRC-20 standard (the counterpart of Ethereum’s ERC-20), and versions bridged to Ethereum and BNB Chain (Binance’s chain) exist. Total supply is about 999.99 trillion tokens, so each unit is tiny. TRON itself, live since 2018, is a delegated proof-of-stake chain where 27 representatives elected by token holders produce blocks, and its low fees make it popular for Tether (USDT) transfers.
The new service centers on ‘BANK OF AI’, an idea to let AI agents (programs that act on their own) pay and use AI models over TRON and BNB Chain. Its site also describes a chatbot with access to models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google. A February 2026 report noted that several announced products, such as AINFT Nova, had not launched.
3. Where it is used and key dates
AINFT is meant to be used in its own NFT marketplace and AI services, and the token trades on exchanges. Justin Sun publicized the platform on X (formerly Twitter) in February 2026.
APENFT launched in 2021 and was renamed AINFT in autumn 2025. In February 2026 the crypto outlet Protos reported that the marketplace showed almost no trading.
4. Things to know
The site calls AINFT ‘the biggest NFT trading platform on TRON’, yet Protos reported that the marketplace’s own analytics showed almost no trading. Several AI products were unreleased at the time, and real usage is hard to verify from outside. The wider NFT market has also cooled a great deal since 2021–2022.
The project leans on its founder’s promotion and on the TRON ecosystem. Because its business has already changed direction once, earlier marketing claims may not match today’s service, and AI-agent payments are a crowded field with many large players.
