A casino platform token with a staking lottery and burns
Shuffle (SHFL) is the own token of Shuffle.com, a crypto casino and sportsbook that opened in February 2023. It is an ERC-20 token issued on Ethereum, tied to a gambling business with legal limits.
1. Shuffle.com and SHFL
Shuffle.com lets people play casino games and bet on sports with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ether. It is run by Natural Nine B.V., registered in Curaçao, which is described as holding a license from the Curaçao Gaming Control Board.
SHFL is the site’s own token, issued as an ERC-20, Ethereum’s standard token format. On the Crypto Nation map, SHFL stands in Ethereum City (the capital), because it was first issued on Ethereum. This column relies on press releases and news reports; operating figures are hard to verify from outside.
2. Wagering, a staking lottery and burns
SHFL can be wagered in casino games on the site, including airdropped (freely distributed) tokens. The remaining tokens unlock in stages (vesting), and the company said wagering with SHFL speeds unlocking and counts toward the play record used for later airdrops.
Staking SHFL (locking it on the site) earns one lottery ticket per 50 SHFL, with weekly draws paid in USDC. Draws use a ‘provably fair’ method based on Bitcoin blockchain data, so tampering can be checked. A portion of gaming revenue is also used to buy SHFL on the market and burn it (destroy it permanently), with the burns visible onchain.
3. Uses and key dates
SHFL is used on the site for wagers, the staking lottery, airdrop eligibility and VIP perks. A whitepaper update of 15 February 2024 planned the first airdrop for early March 2024, for people who had played in the site’s first 12 months, with two more rounds to follow.
The staking lottery was unveiled on 11 October 2024, and a second airdrop of 90 million SHFL was scheduled for 14 December 2024. In 2026, co-founder Noah Dummett said on X that a third and final airdrop, worth 9% of total supply, would start around 7 March and pay out weekly over a year based on past play.
4. Things to know
Crypto casinos operate in a gray area and face bans or geoblocks in most major jurisdictions. Shuffle has said it is preparing a compliant US product, ShuffleUSA, but availability depends on local law. Its Curaçao license is described as basic oversight rather than top-tier consumer protection.
Most gameplay runs offchain and many games come from third-party studios, so revenue and burn sizes are hard to verify onchain. The treasury (31%) and team (25%) received large shares in the 2024 plan, token value depends heavily on one company’s business, and some funds avoid ‘sin’ sectors. Gambling itself carries risks of loss and addiction.
