Kinesis Silver (KAG): A Token Tied to One Ounce of Silver

A silver token for investors and industry

Kinesis Silver (KAG) is a silver token from the gold-and-silver platform Kinesis, each standing for one troy ounce (about 31 grams) of silver. It pairs with Kinesis Gold (KAU) and exists on Kinesis’s own blockchain and on Ethereum.

1. One ounce of silver as a token

Kinesis Silver (KAG) is the silver token of Kinesis, a gold-and-silver trading and payments platform founded in 2018. Each token corresponds to one troy ounce of investment-grade silver, a precious-metal weight unit of about 31.1 grams. Kinesis says the silver sits in insured vaults of outside custodians such as Brink’s and Loomis.

KAG exists in two forms. The original lives on Kinesis’s own blockchain, a Stellar fork, while the Ethereum version is an ERC-20 token (Ethereum’s standard token format) issued by a Panama company, KMS Labs, as a 1:1 claim on original KAG. On the Crypto Nation map, KAG stands in Ethereum City, because the listed version is the Ethereum one.

2. A metal token that shares fees

Kinesis says that when someone buys KAG, the matching silver is set aside for that buyer in ‘allocated’ storage. Gold and silver tokens are handled together in one system, and holding, trading, spending or sending them generates fees.

Kinesis says much of the fee income goes back to users, and holders who keep silver on the platform get a monthly yield paid in KAG. The yield varies with fee income and is not a fixed rate. Redeeming the Ethereum version for original KAG or physical silver requires accepting the issuer’s terms and identity checks.

3. Uses and milestones

Silver serves jewelry and investment but is also widely used in electronics and solar panels. KAG lets people buy and sell it digitally in one-ounce pieces, and by weight silver is far cheaper than gold, so small amounts are easy to start with. Kinesis has run gold (KAU) and silver (KAG) tokens as a pair since its founding in 2018.

The Ethereum version works in Ethereum wallets and exchanges. Kinesis says outside audit reports check its holdings, and one public report is dated October 2025.

4. Things to know

KAG follows the silver price. Industrial demand makes silver sensitive to economic cycles, and it often swings more than gold. Whether the silver is really in the vaults cannot be seen on the blockchain; holders trust the issuer, custodians and audit reports. Some analysts questioned the dating and sampling of early audits, which was not shown to mean missing metal.

Original KAG’s issuer is based in the Cayman Islands and the Ethereum version’s in Panama, so companies in several countries are involved and protections may differ. Availability depends on regional rules, so check access and taxes where you live. The monthly yield depends on fee income and is not guaranteed.
