JUST (JST): the governance token tying together TRON’s DeFi services
JustLend lending and TRON’s stablecoins under one DAO
JUST bundles decentralized finance (DeFi) services such as lending, stablecoins and staking on the TRON blockchain; JST is its governance token. It grew out of the ecosystem of TRON founder Justin Sun.
1. What it is
JUST launched in 2020, putting TRON’s main financial services under one governance system. JST was sold that year through Binance Launchpad, the exchange’s token-sale platform; total supply is 9.9 billion. The project presents itself as a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) run by community votes.
JST holders propose and vote on settings such as interest-rate models, collateral ratios and new assets. Early on JST also paid stability fees, a kind of borrowing interest, in the stablecoin system. On the Crypto Nation map, JST stands in TRON City, as it was first issued on TRON.
2. Services and how they work
The core service is the lending market JustLend DAO. Users deposit assets such as TRX or USDT to earn interest, or borrow against collateral, with rates set automatically by supply and demand. It also offers sTRX, a liquid staking token for TRX, and rentals of ‘energy’, the resource TRON transactions need.
Early on, JUST also ran JustStable, which minted the USDJ stablecoin against TRX, and the JustSwap exchange. JustSwap later gave way to SunSwap, and the stablecoin run by the TRON ecosystem itself shifted to USDD. JST ties decisions across these evolving services together.
3. Milestones
JustLend opened in late 2020 and later passed control to JST voters as JustLend DAO. Because TRON carries huge volumes of Tether (USDT) transfers, it has been among TRON’s largest DeFi services by deposits. TRON-specific features such as TRX staking and energy rental set it apart.
From around October 2025, the project said it had begun buying JST on the market with JustLend DAO revenue and other income, then burning it. Burns reduce circulating supply, but their size and continuity depend on protocol revenue. JST trades on several international exchanges, including Binance.
4. Things to know
Although JUST calls itself a DAO, critics cite close ties to the TRON Foundation and Justin Sun and large holdings in a few wallets. In March 2023 the US SEC sued Sun and the TRON Foundation, alleging unregistered securities sales and market manipulation; in February 2025 both sides asked the court to pause the case to seek a resolution. The suit did not target JST but bears on trust in the ecosystem.
Lending carries liquidation risk if collateral prices crash, plus smart-contract risk. Heavy reliance on TRON and on stablecoins such as USDT and USDD means problems there would quickly reach JUST. JST’s price can move sharply with TRON news and market sentiment.
