Beldex (BDX): A Privacy Coin With a Messenger, VPN and Browser
A privacy project that moved to proof of stake in 2021
Beldex (BDX) is the coin of an ecosystem that pairs transaction-hiding technology with a messenger, VPN and browser. It began in 2018, with an original BDX on its own chain and a token version on BNB Chain.
1. A privacy-focused blockchain of its own
Beldex is a privacy-focused blockchain project begun in 2018, with BDX as its coin. It is said to have started from Monero-style technology, using ring signatures (hiding the real signer among several) and stealth addresses (one-time addresses per payment) to conceal senders, receivers and amounts.
BDX is the coin of Beldex’s own chain, but a token version also exists on BNB Smart Chain (now BNB Chain). On the Crypto Nation map, BDX stands in BNB Chain City, because the map follows that token version; the original coin lives on Beldex’s own chain. Beldex also promotes a bridge (a service for moving between chains).
2. Masternodes and proof of stake
The network runs on masternodes, always-on servers that lock up a set amount of BDX to validate and relay. In the ‘Bucephalus’ hard fork (a major rule-changing upgrade) on 10 December 2021, Beldex moved from proof of work (competing with computation) to proof of stake (validators lock up coins).
That upgrade cut block time from 120 seconds to 30 and changed rewards. BelNet, a decentralized VPN, routes traffic through several nodes to hide browsing records, and is described as a way to host apps (MNApps) on masternodes.
3. Uses and milestones
Beldex’s services include BChat, an end-to-end encrypted messenger, the Beldex browser that blocks trackers, and BNS (Beldex Name Service) for names. Beldex presents them as built on BDX and the masternode network for private payments and communication.
A first-quarter 2026 report that KuCoin published in May 2026 cited wider payment integrations such as BTCPay Server and AEON Pay, more BNS domains, and Tangem hardware-wallet support for the BNB Chain version. It is a promotional post by an exchange, so its figures are not independently verified.
4. Things to know
Privacy coins face regulatory pressure over money-laundering concerns. The EU’s anti-money-laundering rules will bar crypto service providers from handling anonymity-enhancing coins from July 2027, and Binance delisted Monero (XMR) in 2024. Such trends can affect how easily Beldex trades.
Metrics such as user or masternode numbers mostly come from the project and are hard to check. The BNB Chain token was swapped 1:1 from an old contract to a new one, according to price sites, so check contract addresses through official channels. Bridges and smart contracts carry hacking risk, and privacy features can clash with exchanges’ identity checks.
