Hyperliquid is an L1 that puts a perpetual-futures and spot exchange directly inside the blockchain. HyperCore, which runs the order book, and HyperEVM (February 2025), which runs Ethereum-style smart contracts, share the same consensus (HyperBFT), so the exchange’s assets and apps connect directly.
HYPE, the own coin since November 2024, is known for a design in which fees earned by the exchange are used to buy HYPE back. On this map the city is called HyperEVM City, and tokens issued on the chain stand around the HYPE tower.
