Bitcoin Cash split from Bitcoin in August 2017 (a hard fork). The side that wanted bigger blocks — to fit more transactions cheaply — continued on its own chain, and today a block can hold up to 32 MB.
It is mined the same way as Bitcoin (SHA-256) and also capped at 21 million coins. At the split, everyone holding bitcoin received the same amount of BCH. On this map a single BCH building forms the city.
