AI Valley
A valley of small mainnet coins in AI and computing.

Coins of stand-alone chains that focus on AI and decentralised computing, where each chain has only its own coin, are gathered in this valley.
AI chains that grew many coins, such as Bittensor, have moved out into cities of their own. The grouping is redone with every registry rebuild.
📰 The story of this city: AI Valley: Small Mainnets Built Around AI and Computing
AI Valley is home to small stand-alone chains (mainnets) built around AI and decentralized computing, each with just one coin. Some rent out computer power for payment, while others make AI calculation their mining work.
A valley of one-coin AI chains
On the Crypto Nation map, AI Valley is a province for coins of stand-alone chains focused on AI and decentralized computing (pooling many people’s computers), where each chain has only its own coin. With too few coins for a city apiece they share a valley, while Bittensor, with its many subnet tokens, has a city of its own.
As of October 2026 the valley holds five coins: Pearl (PRL), Theta Fuel (TFUEL), Flux (FLUX), ao (AO) and TensorCash (TSC). Pearl is a chain mined with AI mathematics; Theta Fuel is the fuel coin of Theta Network, which pitches video and AI cloud; Flux is a decentralized cloud; ao is a parallel computer on Arweave; and TensorCash says it mines with AI inference.
Three ways to tie AI computing to a coin
The first makes useful work the mining itself, a variant of proof of work called proof of useful work (PoUW). Pearl uses the matrix multiplication AI relies on and TensorCash says it uses AI model inference, so that the chain is secured by useful computation instead of meaningless hashing. Flux moved to ‘PoUW v2’ around October 2025.
The second is a node network that rents out computer resources. Flux uses user-run nodes for app hosting and computing, while Theta grew from video delivery into an AI cloud (EdgeCloud) pooling GPUs. Third, ao presents a parallel computer in which many processes run at once on top of Arweave, a network for permanent data storage.
Where they are used, and key dates
These coins mostly pay network fees (such as app hosting on Flux), serve as collateral and rewards for node operators, or arrive as mining rewards, as on Pearl. Theta’s governance token THETA is separate; Theta Fuel is the operating ‘fuel’.
Key dates: ao’s token appeared in early 2025, Flux changed its rules to PoUW v2 around October 2025, and Pearl’s mainnet opened on 27 April 2026. Theta has been widening from video delivery into AI cloud.
Things to know
The big question is whether the AI label becomes real demand. Useful-work mining is criticized because it is hard to check that the computation is truly useful (one analysis of Pearl argued most mining may have been done only for rewards), and compute-rental networks must compete with giant clouds and specialist GPU renters.
Transparency varies widely: some teams, like TensorCash’s, are pseudonymous and publish their own test results. Adding ‘AI’ to a name can attract attention, so real usage and name value are separate matters.
